    2. Thatch & Barrel

Perched on the cliffs of Pedro St. James, Thatch & Barrel has really unique ocean views and a menu that blends local ingredients with delicious flavors. It was one of the first restaurants I visited in Grand Cayman, and I knew this island was going to blow me away as soon as I tasted their famous BBQ.

Be sure to try one of their cocktails made with local Caymanian Seven Fathoms rum, too!

I love this place so much, I’ve eaten here multiple times and the food and vibe simply do 👏 not 👏 disappoint👏!

    3. Tukka Restaurant and Bar (one of my favorite East End restaurants Grand Cayman)

For a taste of Australia in the Caribbean, Tukka Restaurant and Bar is the place to be. And with outdoor swings, water views and a pier, the vibes are perfect for a Caribbean vacation!

One of the most popular dishes at Tukka is the Lion Fish tacos, and is a staple at the restaurant. I really enjoyed the mahi tacos and cocktails!

The restaurant’s relaxed atmosphere and seaside location make it a perfect spot for lunch or dinner. I enjoyed the Tukka East End, but there’s also a West Bay location close to 7 Mile Beach.

Note: Tukka East End is at a unique location on the water, where there’s even entertainment! The Caribbean’s largest winged bird, Frigate Birds come for feedings daily at 5pm.

Plus there are a plethora of large Tarpons swimming along the pier, which is really fun to see.

    4. Czech Inn Grill

Truly a local’s place, the Czech Inn Grill has the bar food and outdoor vibe perfect for a relaxing evening away from the crowds.

If you want to sit at a kitschy bar, enjoying a beer and a burger, this is the right spot for you. With excellent burgers, fried food and bar food, it’s a refreshing break from the over-crowded spots along the ocean (like 7 Mile Beach!). Plus, down-to-earth service staff just makes this place fun.

    5. Rum Point Club

Alright, alright. Whether you’re visiting Grand Cayman for a day while on a Caribbean cruise, or are spending a week exploring every corner of the island, Rum Point Club is a must-see for sure.

With multiple on-site restaurants, the menu features a variety of dishes like quesadillas and nachos at the beach bar (The Rum Deck). Or, dine in for dinner at Solis Restaurant and opt for the jerk platter, herb-crusted mahi-mahi, and the indulgent surf & turf.

With its beachfront location, it’s an ideal spot to enjoy a meal with a view!

    6. Eastern Star Bar & Fish Fry

A favorite among locals, and one of the more affordable places to eat in Grand Cayman, Eastern Star Bar & Fish Fry offers freshly caught seafood in a casual setting.

In fact, it’s one of my favorite, dip your toes in the sand while you dine, kind of spots!

Try the snapper, coconut shrimp, and conch fritters are served with traditional Caribbean sides like rice, fritters and slaw. It’s a great spot to enjoy a meal while soaking in the island’s laid-back vibe.

    7. Gelato & Co

When you’re in the mood for something sweet, Gelato & Co is perfect!

With a variety of artisanal gelato flavors made with the finest Italian ingredients, it reminded me of eating gelato in Rome – yum! From classic chocolate to Crunchy Chery, 7 Fathoms Rum, and Guava Sorbet, there’s something for everyone will love at Gelato & Co!

Located at Camana Bay, it’s a fun spot to go shopping, let kids play in the fountain or just take a break from the beach. Oh, and there’s a location in George Town if you’re staying on the south part of the island!

    8. Rankin’s Jerk (one of the most amazing restaurants on Grand Cayman!)

Stop what you’re doing RIGHT NOW and add this to your plan. Seriously. I’ve had some of the best jerk chicken the Caribbean has to offer, but this one is hands down my favorite. I’ve been to Rankin’s Jerk multiple times, it’s so good!

Located along the highway in Bodden Town, you’ll want to plan your trip to Rankin’s Jerk carefully, because it’s so good they run out of their amazing BBQ or jerk chicken before the end of the day (and it’s devastating when they’re out!)

Most locals get Rankins Jerk to go, but there’s a cute outdoor and covered seating areas to enjoy this Caribbean spot as well.

    9. Ristorante Pappagallo

Definitely off-the-beaten-path dining, Ristorante Pappagallo is an upscale Italian restaurant in Grand Cayman. Sitting near a bird sanctuary and right on the water, the vibe is relaxing and peaceful.

Try the chicken scarpariello, seafood pasta, mahi-mahi, risotto oroctopus. Another highlight is the incredible brunch. BUT you’ll definitely want a reservation and don’t wait to make it until you arrive on the island. It sells out quickly!

    10. Macabuca Oceanfront Tiki Bar (one of the most popular places to eat Grand Cayman)

Macabuca is known for its excellent snorkeling, diving and of course, dining!

Located right on the water, there’s actually two restaurants on site. The casual lunch and dinner option is the Macabuca Oceanfront Tiki Bar. Perfect for tacos, conch platter, lighter fare and cocktails.

For dinner, opt for Cracked Conch Restaurant, which has indoor and outdoor seating with the perfect Caribbean vibes. Lobster tails, conch chowder and short rib tortellini are popular favorites here. And for dessert, go for the tiramisu creme brûlée – you won’t regret it!

But before you eat, enjoy the dive and snorkel site! You can rent dive equipment on site, or bring your own snorkel gear to explore the reef system!

    11. Vivine’s Kitchen

Over on the east side of the island, Vivine’s Kitchen is a beloved spot for authentic Caymanian cuisine. Literally located inside a house kitchen, this is as authentic as it comes!

The menu changes daily but often includes dishes like shrimp fried rice, fried snapper, stew chicken and burgers. The laid-back setting and home-cooked flavors make it a must-visit for anyone wanting to experience local flavors.

Oh, and the thing that initially drew me to Vivine’s Kitchen when I originally started researching where to eat Grand Cayman was the Rum Cake. And it did not disappoint!!

Note: this is a cash-only kitchen so come prepared!

    12. Scoops Cayman

alai bowl with fruit nuts and oats
    Delicious acai bowl

Scoops Cayman has lighter fare breakfasts, lunch options and sweet treats. Located just off 7 Mile Beach, this is convenient to hotels, but won’t break the bank.

Grab a coffee, acai bowl or breakfast sandwich in the morning. For lunch, try the Caribbean chicken wrap, tuna melt or even traditional grilled cheese, but with jerk mayo!

Oh, and indulge in an afternoon ice cream sewer treat, or get a to-go option like brownies, carrot cake or even bread pudding.

    13. Ragazzi Restaurant (one of the best 7 Mile Beach Grand Cayman restaurants)

While you’ll have a lot of options for dining on 7 Mile Beach, this is a good one. (And I went to a few that were even ocean-front and I’m not including in this guide of the best places to eat Grand Cayman because they simply weren’t note-worthy!)

Ragazzi Restaurant is a family-friendly Italian restaurant known for its wood-fired pizzas and extensive wine list.

Go for lunch or dinner and enjoy the pizza (a favorite of mine) or the pasta! Lobster ravioli, gnocchi and seafood risotto are all great pasta options!

Note: for dinner, you’ll want to make reservations as they fill up quickly in such a popular area!

Grape Tree Café is another toes-in-the-sand kind of place. Casual and one of the more affordable options on the island, it’s a great spot for some Caribbean beach food.

Known for the fried snapper, or honestly the Mahi Mahi or Grouper too, you can’t choose a bad option here. There’s also wings or chicken tenders if you’re burnt out on seafood. And on the weekends, opt for the jerk chicken or pork!
